According to The Times of London, there are an estimated 12,000 Hello Kitty products on the market. Sanrio introduces and retires about 600 new items every year. Here's an extensive (and yet only fractional) list of Hello Kitty merchandise from the character's past and present.

One-ounce gold coin with face value of 50 euros; quarter-ounce gold coin worth 10 euros; and silver coin worth 1.5 euros. France's currency authority, Monnaie de Paris, minted the legal tender, which depicts Hello Kitty enjoying life in the City of Lights, in 2005.





Daihatsu created two Hello Kitty hatchback cars, a 1998 white model and a year later a black version. The autos featured the feline's image on the front grill, side panels, inside upholstery, and keys.

In 2005, Japanese department store Mitsukoshi created a $52,000 egg-size Hello Kitty pendant encrusted with nine carats of diamonds. Her trademark red bow was made of rubies.

As noted in Hello Kitty Hello Everything, our cat greatly enjoys writing and receiving letters, hence the bounty of stationery and writing instruments bearing her image. "She also believes that having a stash of stationery supplies handy (from letter sets and decorated envelopes) can turn creative correspondence into an art form."

In 2005, Taiwan carrier EVA Air started flying a Hello Kitty passenger jet between Taiwan and Japan. The special service has proved so popular, with an occupancy rate of 90 percent, that a second route was added just months after the service launched. The exterior of the Airbus A330-200 is decorated with Hello Kitty and friends, while inside flight attendants wear Sanrio-inspired aprons and serve special meals.


Hello Kitty MasterCard debit card. Though marketed to women, the card has drawn criticism from financial experts in 2004 for its high fees and the dubious messages about consumption it relays to girls.



In 2000, Milton Bradley introduced a Hello Kitty version of the classic board game Twister.

Surfboards decorated with Hello Kitty were displayed at Boardfest 2005, an annual sports festival for girls, in Huntington Beach, Calif. More information is available here.
